We are pleased to be looking for a full-time Intermediate Structural Engineer on behalf of our client, MG Engineering. This role will be based out of their Vancouver of Gibsons office, so you can choose between city life or the scenic beauty of the Sunshine Coast!

We provide engineering and project management services to the heavy industrial sector including mines, port facilities, chemical plants and pulp and paper mills. Who You Are

You are an enthusiastic structural engineer who generally meets our qualification requirements. You will work closely with our team of experienced engineers and designers on structural steel and concrete projects. You enjoy working on multiple projects simultaneously and are capable of managing small to medium sized projects, from the conceptual stage through to final design. You will visit job sites in the Greater Vancouver area and occasionally farther afield. You will communicate directly with our clients. You have the option of working from either of our offices. You have an aptitude and desire for leading a team as part of your future career development.

What Will You Do?

· Detailed design of heavy industrial structures related to plant, terminal and mine projects.

· Preparation of capital cost and manhour estimates, schedules and work plans.

· Preparation of design specifications.

· Supervision of designers, drafters and junior engineers.

· Overall management of small to medium sized Civil / Structural projects.

What Skills and Experience are Needed?

· A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in structural design.

· Approximately 10 years of design experience in North America or the United Kingdom, with at least some heavy industrial experience.

· Must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (Civil or Structural).

· Experience in the design of steel and concrete structures.

· A working knowledge of the BC Building Code.

· Good communication skills and proven ability to liaise with team members and clients.

· Plant and/or field experience (not strictly necessary but highly desirable).

· Enthusiasm, flexibility and a positive attitude.

The hourly range for this role is $50 - $60 per hour, dependent on experience and also includes extended benefits, competitive vacation entitlement and a bonus program.
